2006 Jeep TJ Wrangler Unlimited

When Tim Wolford sold his TJ Wrangler to a friend, he had to get something else right away to satisfy his off-road addiction. That something else turned out to be a 2006 TJ Wrangler Unlimited. The Unlimited came with the venerable 4.0L inline-six mill and 42RLE automatic overdrive transmission. Like Al's JK, the TJ immediately went to Mount Logan Off-Road for its buildup.

Mount Logan left the OE mill and tranny alone, but replaced the OE transfer case with an Advance Adapters Atlas two-speed transfer case with 4.3:1 low range. They then purchased parts from Currie Enterprises to build Rock Jock high-pinion 60 front and rear ends. The Rock Jocks have 5.13 gears and Eaton Detroit Lockers front and rear. Howe Performance Power Steering built the full hydro steering system that works very well. Even with full hydro steering, Tim's Unlimited can be driven on the street.

Mount Logan built a custom long arm suspension with triangulated upper rear control arms. Fox 2.5-inch Air Shox were used front and rear, along with Mount Logan torsion bar sway bars. With the Shannon Campbell hood and Mount Logan-trimmed rear body, the TJ sits low enough that the long arms are almost level, making the Jeep perform very well. Of course, Tim's driving makes the Jeep perform very well, too.

The wide axles and body work allow Tim to use sticky 14/42-17LT Interco Irok competition compound tires mounted on 17x8 Walker Evans racing beadlocks. A Warn PowerPlant HD 12,000-pound winch is mounted on a Rock Slide Engineering TJ bumper. RSE rocker guards protect the sides. A Warn rear TJ bumper protects the back.

Tim's a good driver. His Unlimited makes him even better. Tim does some unbelievable things with his Jeep. If you ever get a chance to follow him, watch out. He not only drives obstacles, he makes them look easy. Easy, that is, until the next vehicle in line tries the same line. Tim's TJ is one of the simplest and most competent Jeeps we have ever seen.
